      Problem Definition

The Firefox WebDAV Launcher is currently not compatible with Firefox 57.0, which is the most recent release as of this case. This release is known as Firefox Quantum.

      Suggested Solution

Do we have plans to release a version of the WebDAV Launcher soon that is compatible with this version of Firefox?

      Why this is important

Many users will be upgrading to Firefox 57 Quantum, so it would be helpful to have the extension be compatible with this.

      Workarounds

      1. Do not upgrade to Firefox Quantum as it is listed as not compatible with the WebDAV Launcher: WebDAV Launcher – Add-ons for Firefox
      2. Use Internet Explorer to 'Edit in Office'
      3. If you have already upgraded to Firefox Quantam, the following steps will allow you downgrade your Firefox Browser: Install an older version of Firefox

Thank you for your patience on this issue.

We are pleased to announce that the new Edit Files experience is here. From Confluence 6.11 (release notes). Now, you can edit any file attached to a Confluence page using your preferred desktop application, then save the file back to Confluence automatically. So the brand-spanking new "Edit Files" function hasn't been build with cross-platform support in mind?

BTW, it seems that it also doesn't work in Windows terminal server environments, which heavily impacts us. At least there's an existing feature request for that: CONFSERVER-56302

A lot of our users are going to be VERY unhappy when we finally update from Confluence 5.x to 6.x, which we have to eventually, since 5.x is out of maintenance. :|

Great news after more than year of waiting.

Very helpfull with decision about new collaboration platform. Office 365 becomes more usable for linux users as Atlassian products.

Great support as well. "you can make another issue if you really insist". Thank you, too much time spent on feedback for provider not listening of its users.

            Hi paula.dasch,

At the moment we have no plans to implement a solution for Linux users. If this is something you're interested in though, please create a new Jira suggestion to allow us to monitor the popularity of this request.

            Hi There,

will there be a solution for Linux users using e.g. Open Office, too?

I could not find any information on this yet.

            Regards,

            Paula

If using a previous version of Firefox is the workaround, then I suggest using a portable version of firefox in order to user Firefox Quantum (for all websites) and using the portable (legacy version) only for Confluence/Jira.

Here is a link for a Portable Firefox Legacy (prior to Quantum):

            https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox-portable-legacy-52

            Hope that helps

Can you offer it as an Add-on for customers using enterprise edition?

HI damian.egli1, thanks for enquiring about backporting this feature to a Confluence Enterprise release.
Whilst the loss of the Firefox WebDAV Launcher Firefox 57.0 resulted in a loss of functionality, there was no means of resolving this by means of a bugfix, as the new implementation is completely different technology to the old and therefore acts as a new feature. Check out this blog for further details on what goes into an Enterprise release.

            Cheers,
