Some users may wish to receive a single digest of notifications, instead of a new email for every single notification.

[CONFSERVER-51741] Allow users to receive a daily digest of notifications

My organization is so large, and so many people keep their spaces "open" to everyone in the org by default, that all users have permission to view a very large subset of pages, so any of the "spaces you have permission to view" options are useless.  Having the option to get a daily or weekly digest of the spaces we're watching would be amazing.  In particular, our over-burdened leadership would like to watch certain spaces, but the emails are too much for them (especially when people move or add documents, which do not seem to have the option to disable "notify watcher" like when editing a page), and they end up opting to turn them off, which takes them back out of the loop and could potentially miss interesting or important updates.

During a trial period of Confluence Questions, my team expressed the most concern over the volume of emails they were receiving while we ramp up this new platform. People don't want to unwatch a topic, because they are an SME of that topic and genuinely want to help, but they also can't integrate the influx of questions with their already over-taxed schedule. The lack of this feature may the tipping point on our buy decision.

dgruber asked me at the summit support bar about whether this was actually going to just use Confluence's Recommended Updates email. It's possible that it's just set to weekly by default.

Yes, it'd be beneficial to be able to customize notification frequency and schedule. Currently, watching topics is generating individual emails which are bothersome, yet I don't want to stop watching the topic entirely.
