    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Some users may wish to receive a single digest of notifications, instead of a new email for every single notification.

[CONFCLOUD-51741] Allow users to receive a daily digest of notifications

This feature was implemented back in June 2022 as mentioned in the following Community article:

The Daily Digest is also listed in our Docs under Subscribe to email notifications.

According to an official statement from Atlassian at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-14888, they're working on improving mail notifications:

            >  [...]  I'm excited to announce that we have plans on our roadmap to make a number of improvements to the notifications experience in Confluence to help customers stay informed and manage their notifications experience. Most relevant, in the next few months we'll be releasing a new Confluence Daily Digest option which will allow customers to receive all page update notifications across all of the spaces and pages they watch in one daily email. [...]

If I understand this correctly, that would be an option to only receive notifications in a daily summary instead of instantly for every change. That is exactly what this issue is about.

During a trial period of Confluence Questions, my team expressed the most concern over the volume of emails they were receiving while we ramp up this new platform. People don't want to unwatch a topic, because they are an SME of that topic and genuinely want to help, but they also can't integrate the influx of questions with their already over-taxed schedule. The lack of this feature may the tipping point on our buy decision.

dgruber asked me at the summit support bar about whether this was actually going to just use Confluence's Recommended Updates email. It's possible that it's just set to weekly by default.

Yes, it'd be beneficial to be able to customize notification frequency and schedule. Currently, watching topics is generating individual emails which are bothersome, yet I don't want to stop watching the topic entirely.
