Using the PDF generation functionality for a page (e.g. click on the upper right on the PDF sign) the generated PDF doesn't contain pictures displayed on the page when:
a) the pictures are displayed as thumbnails
b) the pictures are not attached to the related page itself but in our case attached to other pages in the same space.
We are using this references often in our space to avoide redundancies and the update-problem!

So, unfortunately non of the Confluence export-functinalities is at the moment usable for us because the Word-export can't handle the German Umlaute, uaahh .. help!.
