[CONFSERVER-51395] Make calendar names searchable within Confluence

Hi martin moser thanks for raising this. Votes are not how we primarily prioritise issues. Sure, they give us some guidance of the relative customer demand but they don't drive the roadmap. So although this issue is split with the votes being on this one and not the other it doesn't make much difference. Please see the Implementation of New Features Policy for details or this Answers Thread

Looking at the comments in here, I request the 64 votes to be carried over to the split off https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/TEAMCAL-2286. This ticket was more about being able to search events than just simply calendar names.

info283 thanks for pointing that out!

            Hi Everyone,
Given this ticket was a bit ambigous in covering two features, I've split it into two.

            • This ticket will capture making the actual calendars searchable in Confluence. This was delivered in our recent release - Team Calendars 4.2. This will be in OnDemand in the next couple of weeks and has already been released to behind the firewall customers on the Marketplace.
            • I have created a new ticket to specifically capture making actual events searchable in Confluence: TEAMCAL-2286. Please watch, vote or provide more input on that ticket through commenting to stay updated. We would appreciate any comments which might help us in better understanding what you are trying to acheive when searching for events.

            Thanks everyone!

Since version 4.2 of the team calendar plugin (3. April 2014), calendars are found in the quick search text box. See here:
            https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/TEAMCAL/Team+Calendars+4.2+Release+Notes
But events are not yet found. So maybe this issue should be renamed or divided.

            Kind regards,
            Henning

almost 3 years to deliver on this pretty basic functionality???
I wonder how other paying customers feel about this... especially when a free option like google calendar provides that (again, basic) functionality

            Dear confluence team,

we are considering to give the team an overview about upcoming events. Also looking back on previous events is needed.
It only makes sense if the calendar is searchable!
This is what the team says. Of course, it is a team-calendar.

We are very interested in this feature!

Thanks a lot and kind regards,

            Thomas

Beside the event create/delete issue, this is the 2nd major function that is not realized in this plugin.
Does anybody has a workaround for this - or - an alternative to the team calender plug in?

Agreed - even Public folders in Exchange has the ability to do this (and has had for many years) - it is a sticking point when we are trying to migrate away.

We use calendars to track much historical data and require a search facility to look at client events (just as one example)

The confluence search is heralded as 'awesome' so I would have thought the ability to search an Atlassian paid plugin using the default search would be a given?

I agree, yet another shortcoming of the pricy Team Calendars plugin

as a enterprise user - this is something my users are really looking for. We use sharepoint also and they like the ability to search not only content but events.
