The calendar legend should respect the order in which you add calendars when embedding calendars on a page

It appears that previously the Calendar macro use to respect the order in which the calendars were selected when displaying the macro on a page.

This issue is to change the macro behaviour so that it displays the calendar legend the same order in which they are selected in the macro. It should be possible to modify this order in the parameter screen of the macro browser.

Did this issue reach a conclusion? This is a function that would be highly valuable.

Yes, this is very important when we have many calendars included into a page with the macro. Currently the default and only order is REVERSE alphabetical. Which makes no sense to me. But in a long list, it would be best if the page creator could set the order so that the most important calendars appeared at the top. As it is, a user may have to scroll way down to find the calendar they need (and the associated color to look for the events on the display). We are trying to create organizational wide calendars that provide an overview of activities around the globe. This issue makes it difficult for executives to find the pieces they need.

Thanks for clarifying! I've renamed the issue to reflect this.

            Hi Sherif,

you are right: what we need is the ability to change the calendar sorting in the macro.

Changing the order in the My Calendars view would be nice too but should be considered as optional feature...

            Best regards,
            Uwe

            Thanks for clarifying Uwe,
Can I get one more clarification. Do you want the ability to change the calendar sorting in the "My Calendars" screen (The main calendar screen from the top-menu bar navigation in Confluence?)

Or, from your comment I gather you want the order to remain in the Macro? (So you want the macro to render the calendar order in which you create them?) I take it you are mostly referring to the macro?

            Hi Uwe,

As for issue #2 on Feb 5th in CSP-117273, I have updated/redirect you to this report instead: TEAMCAL-2062 which turns out to be a duplicate of TEAMCAL-1357. So FYI we are tracking the matter via TEAMCAL-1357 instead.

Additionally, I have further response to your #1 via CSP-117273.

            Hi Sherif,

thanks for your reply. I already got that support ticket have to be raised on your support portal first but was confused since no TeamCalendar version is selectable there. However, I did create the ticket there: https://support.atlassian.com/browse/CSP-117273

Regarding my points please find my conclusion:

#1 I meant the sorting of calendar list view. We noticed that this list is alphabetical ordered in TC4 which is completely different compared to TC3. Our users are complaining because of some use cases where the order is important. Hanis told me there is no sorting by default and the calendar order will be displayed as the were added to the TeamCalendar macro. But I cannot reproduce this behaviour. Its an alphabetical descending sort order no matter when I add what calendar...

#2 The linked ticket is regarding the timeline view while my issue is regarding the add/edit event screen. Hanis provided the following ticket instead: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/TEAMCAL-914

#3 I don't see any reason to follow this possible bug since we manually corrected all upcoming events that were wrongly migrated now. So all I want to do here is to ask you to take care of existing customer data in future releases. This is essential for enterprise software and always much more important as the newest social feature!

#4 It's a shame that the fulltext search is still not available even if four major releases of TC are out. I mean integration is the only point that differentiates TC from other calendar solutions. Please accept that calendar events are normal content that should be treated like every other content in CF!

            Best regards,
            Uwe

            Hi uklkca,
Sorry a bit of confusion here. This is where we track customer facing feature requests and known bugs. To talk to support you should raise a ticket at http://support.atlassian.com so a support engineer can help you triage and troubleshoot. Generally speaking, if you have questions it's best to raise a support ticket and where possible our support staff will point you to existing feature requests or identify or dive deep into issues you might have.

But just quickly to answer some of your questions:
            1. I am unclear by what you mean has changed here. Is it

            • The calendar list view on the right that has changed order?
            • Is it the listing of individual events?
            • What is it specifically, and why does it matter to you to change it back? (just trying to get a better understanding)

            2. This is an open feature request you can track here: When/if we implement the issue you will be updated if you watch the ticket: TEAMCAL-1357

            3. This may sound like a bug, but I cannot reproduce this. It's best to raise a support ticket (As mentioned above) so the support team can confirm if this is a bug, and write the steps to reproduce, and then they will inform us what the issue is.

            4. We are tracking this feature request here: TEAMCAL-168
