em and en dashes should not need surrounding whitespace.

      A series of hyphens is not rendered into em-dash or en-dash if it is not surrounded by spaces.

      I think that this is incorrect, because typographically, em-dashes should not be surrounded by spaces (see Wikipedia citation below).

      I am coming to Confluence from experience with Textile under drupal/PHP. In that environment, Textile does not require surrounding spaces.
