I had to disable the emoticon renderer in the wikiFiltersSubsystemContext.xml file as some of the emoticons were interfering with text strings we frequently use. But this only concerns the "face" emoticons and none of the other emoticons which all consist of a single character surrounded by brackets, e.g. "". It would be nice if it were possible to enable or disable these two sets of emoticons separately.
