      2. Add some text.
      3. Highlight the text and add an inline comment.
      4. Open the comment and resolve it.
      5. Delete the highlighted text.
      6. Click on the elipsis ( . . . ) >> Resolved Comments
      7. Click on the resolved comment and attempt to reopen it

      Actual Results

The reopen option is not available. See

      Workaround

      1. Restore a previous version of the page where the text exists.
      2. Click on the elipsis ( . . . ) >> Resolved Comments.
      3. Notice that the reopen option will be available.
      4. Reopen it and delete the comment.
      5. Restore the latest version of the page and the resolved comment will remain deleted.

      Use Case

Not having this option available anymore will refrain the users to ever delete the resolved comments. There is also a feature request to add a delete button. See: CONF-38891

Similar issue here. I reworded some specific words that the comment had been attached to and now cannot restore the comment even though the comment is still relevant to the sentence/paragraph.

While this might not be a bug, the scenario, that I somehow want to restore inline comments where the text they are referring to has been deleted, is still a valid use case in my opinion. I have had this happen to me several times in documents that are currently 'under construction' and are reworked a lot. What is your suggested workaround for this situation? (Bear in mind that I might want to restore more than just the original comment, but also its replies.)

A way to accommodate the user in this situation might be to ask the user to which part of the text the comment should be restored/reopened (since the original text has been deleted).

            Dear All,

This is actually not a bug. You cannot reopen an inline comment on a piece of text which does not exist.
I am going to close this ticket. Please follow on the suggestion ticket to add delete button for resolved comments https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-38891

            Regards,
