NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.
Since the introduction of the new preview feature in Confluence users are complaining about not being able to search within the shown/previewed document. They are used to this feature from all other PDF viewers (Adobe, Chrome etc.).
This is especially important as it is not that easy for the unexperienced user anymore to download the PDF and open it with their preferred viewer.
We've already discussed this feature request with Wendell K. in an enterprise customer interview back in June.
Btw. the implicit user expectation is that the same inline document search works for MSWord/PowerPoint/Excel previews as well.

This is exactly what we need!!!
Or at least enable shortcut ctrl+f for browser search at least! (File > Find is cumbersome)
