Description
Summary
Any edits to a page containing a JIRA issue link inside a panel macro will trigger an update to the JIRA issue.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create an application link between JIRA and Confluence
- Create an issue on JIRA
- Edit a page in Confluence to add a panel. Copy the JIRA issue URL into the panel to create a link.
- On JIRA, check the History tab for the issue to confirm the link was created:
- Edit the Confluence page on any way (for example, adding some text) and publish it.
- Check the History tab on the JIRA issue again. Notice how an entry was added:
- Notice how the Updated field of the JIRA issue was also changed.
Expected Results
Confluence should not update the JIRA issue.
Actual Results
Every time an edit is made to the page, Confluence will update all JIRA issues linked to the page.
Notes
- Could only reproduce if the JIRA issue is inside a panel macro. Could affect other macros as well.
- This bug does not affect Confluence 6.0.1 or 5.10.8.
- JIRA version does not seem to influence the occurrence of this bug. Tested with JIRA 6.4.13 and 7.2.4 with the same results.
Workaround
Move the issue macro outside the panel. Upgrading to Confluence 5.10.8 or higher should solve the issue.
