      Atlassian Update - 24th July 2019

We've discovered that this issue has been duplicated by the issue at CONFSERVER-28739 - copy and pasting web images will not attach the image to the page. While this is a confirmed bug in Confluence, please watch that issue for further updates, and more detailed workarounds.

      Summary

Our Confluence current behaviour is that when we attach the content from external resources that includes the image in it, the image is being copied as a link instead of the original image and store it in Attachment of the page.

This will make the image to be broken when the resource of the image (the link) is being removed or renamed.
