1. Attach an image to a page
      2. Insert the image to the page content using Files and Images macro
      3. Left click (hold it) on the image, drag it to the blank area of the page and drop
      4. The Inserting Attachment window will show up and the same attachment will be re-uploaded

This was only replicated on Internet Explorer. On my test in a local instance, used IE 11.

This is even marked a duplicate of CONFSERVER-33243 - both in Gathering Impact. How comes this?

Actually, having a smaller drop zone for uploads sounds like a low hanging fruit.

I am currently trying to find out why CONFSERVER-40922 has not enough user attention to be noted by Atlassian. This ticket was triggered by the same problem actually. Maybe it was not found as a duplicate because its impact was too narrow (IE only, images only). "The full page drop zone for attachments leads to many unwanted uploads"

            +1 from Continental

Still occurs in IE 11, Confluence v6.8.1. This may potentially cause unnecessary attachments that consumes disk space/memory. Please fix it.
