"insert a variable into a template" on System Global Template Fails

      Working with Blueprints As described in:

      Edit a Default Existing Global Template such as Default Personal Space Content (Works on New Templates)

      1. Choose the cog icon , then choose General Configuration under Confluence Administration
      2. Choose Global Templates and Blueprints in the left-hand panel
      3. Edit A pre-existing Template
      4. insert a variable into a template:
      5. Choose Template > New Variable from the editor toolbar (or choose an existing variable to add it to the page)
      6. Enter a name for the variable
      7. Press Enter (by default this will create a single-line text input field)
      8. Save

      Expected Behavior:

      Template will contain the Variable

      Actual Behavior

      All other changes will be visible, but the variables will not be displayed
