    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

I would like a way to view all inline comments at once. This is mostly related to how I like to consume content and is a personal thing, but I think it's worth raising anyway (I doubt I'm alone).

I read a page and then scroll down through the comments. I don't read every one, but rather a few things will prompt me to read a particular comment:

      1. The name of the commenter - if it's someone with interesting opinions I'm more likely to want to read what they have to say
      2. The ones with lots of replies
      3. The ones that start with interesting phrases like 'I disagree', 'let me play devils advocate' etc
      4. The long comments where people are obviously passionate about the topic
      5. Ones that have a standout sentence in bold or a headline or something eye catching
      6. Inline comments that are unresolved

With inline comments, I can't immediately see if a little yellow bar has 80 passionate comments underneath it, and unless I click on every highlighted word, I'm likely to miss out on important discussion. I feel like I can scan down a page and get a vibe from the page comments too, which I'm now missing with inline comments.

For me, I feel like it's taken away some of the inclusive and easy nature of collaboration that Confluence is amazing for.

      Ideas:

      1. Have a way as the author to change an inline comment into a page comment, and start it with the highlighted text in a quote. That way if something becomes a vital discussion it can be moved to a place it will be more visible to casual page viewers
      2. Have a 'view all' button that does the above for all inline comments for the current viewer only
      3. Have a user setting that does the above for all pages by default (ie disable inline comments per user)
      4. Display a count of comments in the top right of the highlighted text so it's easy to see where the discussion is

      Workaround

Here are some helpful keyboard shortcut for navigating inline comments:

      • Next Inline Comment N
      • Previous Inline Comment P
      • Next Inline Comment (edit mode) ⌘ + Shift + O
      • Previous Inline Comment (edit mode) ⌘ + Shift + L

[CONFSERVER-34510] View all inline comments at once

I can suggest Talk - Advanced Inline Comments for Confluence app and specifically the Talk Report feature that can help you with your case.

Talk Report allows overviewing comments made on a specific page and/or space and see in it the following data:

            • Name of a page where an inline comment/suggestion was created
            • Link to an inline comment/suggestion
            • Initial comment/suggestion
            • Priority of an inline comment/suggestion
            • Status (open, resolved, archived)
            • Discussion/suggestion author
            • Users mentioned in a discussion
            • Date when a talk was started
            • Date of talk resolution

You can see the Talk Report page in docs, to have a more detailed view of the feature.

The feature set of "Task Report" would be suitable for getting a grip on a selection of pages – it could go as far as a simple option to treat an inline comment as a task for the original poster, activated by a simple checkbox ("include inline comments as tasks").

Super-simple and unobtrusive implementation, not that that ever helped to get it...

comments aren't worth much at all if you have no way to report on them or see all of them within a space.  The existing functionality operates like a single confluence page is a single unit of work.  I think it almsot never is.  I imagine most, like me, consider a space or a section of a space to contain related material and dont confine it to a single page.

This macro should be avail about NOW. If you can't easily find al unresolved in-line comments.... it really makes the in-line feature less attractive to use.

Atlassian is becoming like Microsoft. You see something that does not work like it should and you think - what is the point of contacting them - nobody reads it anyway. C'mon 333 votes for this issue is not enough?

I mean, I understand lack of resources but I just noticed that the issue is created 6 years ago (facepalm).

Interesting fact is that I just discovered on Confluence 7.0.1 that on a Mobile view all unresolved comments are actually visible in the coments below the page, so it's kinda there! Why isn't it there in the desktop version then?

BTW, please stop spamming with "+1" comments if you have nothing more to add as this is sending unnecessary email spam - use the "Vote" button instead.

            Hello.

For server Confluence you can also try to use https://marketplace.atlassian.com/1219786 plugin to see Simple/Inline (all, only resolved, only unresolved) comments from any page(s) in a form of a table on a page.

            Thank you

We have recently released See All Unresolved Comments Marketplace app for Confluence Server, so now there's an easier way to see whether your pages have unresolved inline comments (both page and attachment comments), and it also includes search, page comment overview, and generating a report for all unresolved comments in all pages underneath the current one.

Yes! Wholly support the urgent need for this feature.

Furthermore, one of the most basic ways of making use of inline comments is to resolve them by making a change to the page. It would be useful, therefore, to be able to see the comments when in Edit mode and resolve the comments in Edit mode.

I'll look for it, but is there also a feature whereby, much like Word's track changes feature, comments can just be accepted and rolled into the page content more quickly than having to re-author the comment?

Why create an inline comment with "resolved" button if I can't find what is to be resolved? It's like putting post notes all over the house, except I only have 4 rooms in my house but hundreds of pages.

I agree, this needs to be resolved. In the duplicate JIRA CONFSERVER-36602 @Brett Hall commented " Would be great if the "Page properties report" had a checkbox for "Show Unresolved Comment Count" in addition to "Show Comment Count".  Frankly, the "Show Comment Count" checkbox is useless if you have no idea how many of those have yet to be resolved."

For us, I believe that would be a good way forward. That is, a way to based on labels select specific pages and allow to show unresolved comments on those pages.

The macro is a great idea.

For those on Cloud, an addon was recently released that might fit your needs:

            See All Unresolved Comments

Not only can you see how many unresolved inline comments are in a page, but you can also search (run a report) to see all unresolved comments filtered by space and/or commenting user. You can also get an overview that shows just the headings and the commented text, or a listing of all comments and their replies, so you can get a quick overview of what's on any particular page.
