New task list check marks clear if one edits the page soon after marking tasks complete

There are two ways to recreate the problem.

      Steps to reproduce:

Version 1: Change task status and then edit a page.
      a. One a page with a checkmark, mark a task complete or incomplete.
      b. Seconds later, edit the page.
      c. Save the page, and any change to tasks in step (a) will no longer appear on the page.

Version 2: Edit a page and change task status while the page is being edited.
      a. User A edits a page that has task list checkboxes.
      b. User B marks a task complete or incomplete while the page is being edited.
      c. User A finishes editing and saves the page.
      d. User B's changes to task status no longer appear on the page.

We are also affected by this bug in the version 7.13.2
It's very horrible to that this bug is known Atlassian since 2013.
I agree with Christoph Scharf, this lowers the trust of our users on the confluence tool.

Waiting before editing is also what we recommend. But even then we're always in panic that a task got unticked somewhere. You only have to be once in a hurry and there you go...

+1 Huge impact that requires repeat work and wasted time investigating where the checks disappeared to.

I have counseled users to patiently wait for a page to load before clicking "edit."  On some occasions, I saw the checks disappear when I try to edit a page too quickly upon visiting it.

+1 This issue impacts the work of our project groups. They cannot trust this marco to manage and track certain task, so they have to double check. This renders it unreliable/useless/confusing.

Same here. Severity minor is far too low for us. Since it makes the tasks feature absolutely unreliable.

+1 This is painful for us.  It causes confusion for users who are incorrectly signaled that previously-completed tasks are suddenly somehow incomplete.  The issue renders the tasks feature unusable on pages that have frequent edits, which are most of our pages.

+1 We are experiencing this issue on 7.13. Because it makes users distrustful of the state of tasks in Confluence, this is a significant issue.

The purpose of a task macro is to reliably manage tasks. It this basic functionality is hindered by "voodoo like task changing behaviour", the main purpose of the task macro will become needless. Thanks a lot for your understanding!

This issue can also be easily reproduced when confluence collaborative editing is enabled:

            1. Create and save a page with some task check-boxes.
            2. Start Collaboratively editing the page (ask a colleague to help, or open an edit session in two browser tabs), and close the page without making any changes.
            3. Check some of the tasks in view mode.
            4. Start editing the page again, and save the page without making any changes.
            5. Voila! All tasks are reverted to the state they had in step 2.

            Hi osanico, mtran and kyabut,

This is a really painful bug affecting many teams and users. Is there any way to raise the priority?

Please raise the priority of this issue! This is a MAJOR blocker for companies that need ISO compliance for their processes. It also makes Confluence tasks lists extremely unpredictable and unreliable, causing frequent communication issues in many teams at my company.

Additionally, users who have tasks marked unmarked after they had previously marked the task completed experience the following:

            1. They received an email notification (if turned on ) stating that their task was marked incomplete with a link to the confluence page
            2. If they used the link in the email from #1 to open up the confluence page, they received a warning message stating 'You are viewing an old version of this page. View the current version.'

            We are using version 7.4.6.

Can the priority of this be raised? This is a pretty big data integrity issue that results in users  being unable to trust the accuracy of the Confluence product. Additionally, this has a financial impact on companies as well: No doubt I have duplicated testing steps when something becomes unchecked. It's really hard to keep track of exactly what I have/have not tested, which is why I use a checkbox to help me track. This issue occurs multiple times per week for myself, and others at my company have reported similar struggles.

In my instance, editing is not necessary - simply reloading the page will cause the checkbox to become unchecked.

We have the same problem since we switched to Confluence 4 months ago. We work with large projects with dozens of tasks each. Not a day goes by when tasks that have long been completed are open again. There are 5 colleagues working in the team and everyone reports this problem daily.
I am shocked that this problem has apparently been known for years and nothing is done. You have to spend time every day researching whether an open task is actually open. For a product of this price range, I would have expected a quick and competent solution.

Would it be possible to raise the priority of this bug?

This has a major impact on people who use Confluence tasks to track their work and the work of their team. If Confluence is losing information, it means that Confluence tasks lists are unreliable and therefore people might think of Confluence as unreliable.
