Link in Confluence pages cannot be edited in IE9, IE10 & IE11 when Page Layout is in used

      Steps to reproduce:
      1. Access Confluence in IE browser
      2. Create a Confluence page
      3. Insert Page Layout e.g. Three columns
      4. Add text to all elements, add some links to that text.
      5. Save the page
      6. Edit the page. Editing of the links on top will work ok.
      7. Scroll down. Editing of links is no longer possible, the menu (Go to link, Edit and Unlink) are not displayed. The layout flickers when links are clicked.
      8. See the screen cast for details: http://screencast.com/t/Y42hyAaiPFo
      9. Same issue is not observed without the use of Page Layout in IE
      10. Here's a sample space xml backup from a freshly installed Confluence 5.0.2 that represents the problem: ds-152558-6.xml.zip - sample taken from Demonstration Space
      Workaround:
      1. Edit the links using Confluence Source Editor in IE browser
      2. Use Chrome or Firefox browser instead
      Note:

Upon further research, I found out that the issue only occurred when you have to scroll down the page to edit the links. It seems that when the page layout height is more than the default editor height (the need to scroll down the page), problem exist.

      Root Cause

The underlying problem is that Internet Explorer fires a scrolling event sometimes when the link is clicked, which results in the property panel being closed (which when scrolling normally is what is expected).

This issue has been fixed in Status Macro Plugin v2.1.5, if you encountering an issue of scroll flickering inside page layout in IE, you are hitting this newfound bug instead: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-32790

I confirmed that the regression was introduced in 5.4.2 by the fix to CONF-31966.

Solution: Upgrading status macro plugin to 2.15 (which contains the fix)

            Hi Hanis,
both, I downgraded the whole "atlassian-bundled-plugins" to 5.4.1 (as quickest & easiest way out of the issue)

Hey burkhard.buelte were you referring to Atlassian Editor Plugin or Confluence Editor Plugin ?

@TtheB meanwhile we did a (not recommended) partial addon downgrade to 5.4.1 and I can confirm, the 5.4.1 editor plugin is not showing this bug.

I confirm, that the problem returned with 5.4.2.
The 5.4.1 release seems to work, although there is some unpleasant scrolling/flickering.

Support suggest to comment on this closed bug !?!

The bug is back in 5.4.2 very much same as here described. ( see https://support.atlassian.com/browse/CSP-117684)
Making edeting nearly not possible as soon as a pay-layout and pictures are used on the page.

I took the time to diff Confluence 5.1.1 with 5.1.2 and created a patched confluence-tinymce-plugin-4.3.7.jar which must be added to your atlassian-bundled-plugins.zip as described in https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/How+to+Edit+Bundled+or+System+Plugins

This will fix the problem for IE9 and Confluence 4.3.7

            @Craig Petchell

Can you please provide the code fix, so that I can fix it for our Confluence 4.3.7 Instance myself? We cannot upgrade to 5.x, but we need this fixed very badly.

            Thanks
