We LOVE the table sort feature. However we thought it would handle dates more intuitively.

We have some date's in a table column (notice we use DD/MM/YYYY format) and when sorted in any way it fails to understand the dates. The current sorting looks at the top of the text and sorts by it.

We're doing a workaroud by adopting the date format YYYY-MM-DD to ensure it works but it breaks our standard date format

[CONFSERVER-26533] Table column Sorting doesnt detect date text

The table sorting on dates issue was resolved in Confluence 5.8 here: CONF-34002

            Hi Kelly,

I updated the date in the system to see if it would resolve the sorting issue and it doesn't. Still having the sorting issue as shown in the images attached.

Hope there will be an update on this issue from Atlassian in the very near future.

I'm using English and the default date format that comes with that - I haven't altered anything. I just tried to reproduce it not working and it worked fine for me - but then I noticed I'm doing MM/DD/YYYY. I can't get that to break - I originally had problems with MM-DD-YY until I found out/figured out that as soon as you throw in the 4-digit year and/or switch to / vs -, Confluence figures it out. I just tried DD/MM/YYYY, and I replicated it breaking just like your screenshots.
My guess is as soon as DD goes above 12, Confluence doesn't recognize it as dates and just sorts on the far left value. My understanding is the OP could change their date format to DDMMYYYY in Jira's system properties and it would fix their problem?

As far as the date lozenge issue, that is the defect I opened up yesterday, see here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-34002

            Hi kschoenh,

This still looks like an issue to me (see attached). What date format are you using? I don't think we will be able to support sorting by arbitrary date formats, but I think we should be able to make this work with the date lozenge.

It looks like this was fixed in at least Conf 5.5. I can't replicate your sorting issue now.
