Indent function doesn't work as expected when indenting tables

NOTE: This bug report is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding bug report.

When indenting a table using Firefox, (v14.0.1), or Chrome, (v20.0.1132.57), it is possible to indent a table in the editor view but whenever the page is saved or previewed the indent disappears and the table appears to be aligned to the left again, (see attached screenshot).

To workaround this issue you can use the User Macro defined in this comment and embed the table into nested 'indent' macros.

It almost been a decade since this was first reported in your forums and it still does NOT work.

The only thing that has changed is that the workarounds no longer work. What a horrible experience!

@Quan Pham,  this does not appear to be fixed.  I am using Confluence 6.14.1, with Chrome 73.0.3683.75.

I also still have this problem, in Confluence 5.5.6. I'm baffled why such a simple and basic text editing function is not implemented in Confluence wiki.

            Please Reopen this bug

This functionality is still broken in Confluence 6.5, as far as I am concerned. You can initially indent a table the way you want, but if/when it falls back to the first column, it becomes impossible to indent it after that.

I can sometime trick my way around this by creating a bullet list and putting the table in there, but then there is an unwanted bullet that cannot be removed.

This still appears to be a problem in Confluence version 5.7.4

We ran into this today too using OnDemand; it makes our layout look pretty ugly - which is usually not the case with Confluence.
