      Current versions of Confluence don't expose this setting anymore. it was there in pre 4.0 versions

      The 'low recorded usage' argument might be true https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Confluence+4.0+Release+Notes but it results in a cumbersome behaviour.

      The most likely usage for the breadcrumps is to go to the parent page. But this is only doable by first clicking the ellipsis in most cases.

      Either expose the setting again or give it a more useful value (i.e. 2)
