Arrow sign and possibly other symbols and non-latin characters are not displayed in the Export PDF result

      Steps to Reproduce:
      1. Add the following arrows in a Confluence page:

        → ↔ ←

      2. Export the page to PDF. It'll display or print nothing no-arrows.pdf
      Workaround

Install the supported font to Confluence as described here. Tested with DejaVuSans.ttf of DejaVu fonts that works just fine, as a result arrows.pdf

      Findings
      • Exporting the page to Word is not an issue. It only affects exporting to PDF.
      • This bug could affect some other symbols too. There is a good list of symbols here that can be rendered properly using DejaVu fonts.
      • Non-latin characters are affected too here. Such as Turkish.

            Hi,
thanks for this Workaround how to display symbols like "Arrow sign".
But when i am exporting with DejaVuSans.ttf default formatting like bold ist not displayed in the exported PDF.
Do you have tested another fonts? Linked webpage (supported fonts) does not work !

            Hi Husein

Thanks for raising this issue. I believe that this is caused by not having the appropriate font for exporting these characters to PDF. This is actually a duplicate of CONF-30779.
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Creating+PDF+in+Another+Language Describes how to setup exports in such a way that these extended characters will work properly.
