For anyone getting this problem on IE8 I would recommend checking that compatibility view is switched off for Confluence, as that is an immediate fix. There instructions at http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html (note that your IT/sysadmins may have these settings locked to avoid breaking some other system).

Confluence is designed to work in IE8 with Compatibility View disabled.

We have changed to the Documentation Theme and we also have the problem. we are running 3.2 and the solution we use is to switch Compatibility View box.

For us this bug is critical too.
We are using Confluence 3.4 to provide documentation to more than 500 users.

We cannot change from IE7 to Firefox, nor to IE8: We have applications who need IE7 today and it will last for one year or more.
We cannot change to "default theme", because "documentation theme" is one of the key benefits of the upgrade to V3.4.

We have the same issue with IE7 and Confluence 3.2.1. Please fix this!
