    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

If the users are stored in the DB, Confluence just blocks additional ones. However, if it is connected with an external repository, and the "Can Use" groups already have more members than allowed, Confluence will restrict access and editing permissions to it's content.

      What needs to be done:

      1. Inform the Admin about the situation (an email would be OK).
      2. Provide to the Admin 1 or 2 days to fix the problem.

[CONFSERVER-20678] When using external user repositories, if the license limit is going to be reached, send an email to the Admin and give him a time to fix it

Thank you for raising this issue. While I can see how this feature would be useful, we have no plans to implement it in the foreseeable future. In order to set expectations, we're closing this request now.

            Thanks again for your idea.

I don't think it is a minor issue when this causes all editing on the site to be disabled for however long it takes to

            1. Have someone contact an administrator to inform them of the problem
            2. Fix the issue
            3. Have to restart Confluence (affecting all users again!) in order to refresh the user count
            4. Inform users that they can edit things again.
