Trouble viewing QuickTime Movies in Snow Leopard and Safari

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      problem description:

Confluence fails to render .mov file only in Snow Leopard AND Safari (tested in Safari 4.0.3) - the browser will renders a big quick time logo with question mark over it (screenshot). The browser is not able to locate the file either via linking as if the file does not exist.

Interestingly, the same Safari browser was able to render .mov in EAC (running Confluence 3.3m1).

It works in Firefox in Snow Leopard and in Mac 10.5.8's Safari.

Whomever is working on this ticket, please make sure that the fix in Confluence 3.3m1 gets applied in 3.2.x.

We are having the same issues but also with .mp4's, basically any format. It happens in Chrome, Firefox and Safari on 10.10.4 and we only get the "?" on restricted pages. If you are on an unrestricted page the video plays fine. Also if you load the video once on an unrestricted page you can then play video with the same name in the restricted space.

            Isn't this effectively a duplicate of CONF-26867?

Videos work if the page is public. Any restriction at site, space, or page level will cause the problem.
