If ~~JRA-20361~~ is implemented, the jiraissue macro should be improved to reflect the user name of user picker custom fields. Those names should present a link to the jira user profile. Here are some screenshots as an example:

Problem still occurs using JIRA 5.1.7 and Confluence 5.0.1

As of Apr 5th 2018, this issue is still reproducible using Jira 7.8.1 and Confluence 6.4.0
