I've been using Confluence every day for a year now and just now learned that you can select multiple users at the same time when applying page restrictions. Wow...what a time saver! For the past year I have been wasting a lot of time by:
- clicking on "choose users" to open a new window
- searching on the name of the user I want to add
- checking the box next to the user in the search results
- clicking on "Save as
- repeating for every user I want to add
I wonder if other users out there have encountered the same waste of time without realising that they can add multiple users at the same time by typing in a comma-separated list of usernames into the Enter user/group name(s) box and clicking Add.
The problem as I see it is twofold:
- The Enter user/group name(s) doesn't do quicksearch on names like it does in JIRA. This requires me to know the actual Confluence username
- The Restrictions section of the page encourages me to click on the "Choose Users" tab (perhaps because it's prominent in the UI or perhaps because I don't know usernames). The problem with Choose Users is that it doesn't allow you to choose multiple users.
If we added quicksearch to the user Enter user/group names(s) field it would DRASTICALLY improve the experience.

Various parts of this improvement have been implemented along the way. The final part is auto-complete of groups which has now been done as
