Edit Office documents from the attachments page and attachments macro

Currently you can edit an Office document attachment (.doc, .ppt. or .xls) from the viewfile macro and view page (see image below). However, you cannot edit the file from the attachments page nor the {attachments} macro.

Can we add a simple edit icon/link next to any editable Office document in the attachments page and the attachments macro? This should be really simple, right? Also, it's confusing that we have the existing edit link since that edits the document properties and not the document itself. Perhaps that should say edit properties instead?
