      NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      When an LDAP repository is down, the message "group not found" appears next to local (hibernate) groups in the Administration > Global Permissions page.

      To replicate:
      1) configure LDAP successfully
      2) Shut down LDAP repository
      3) Clear cache
      4) View Administration > Global Permissions

      The UI should show a more diagnostic message like "LDAP repository unavailable", not an error message for internal groups.

      The internal groups work in this scenario - it appears to be just a problem in the UI.
