Issue Summary
After a user's Confluence Cloud session expires, opening a Confluence page can sometimes fail and leave the site unusable. Instead of prompting the user to sign in again or otherwise recovering the session, the page fails to load.
The issue appears intermittent because it affects users who still have an expired session in their browser.
Steps to Reproduce
- Sign in to a Confluence Cloud site.
- Allow the browser session to expire.
- Without signing in again or refreshing the session, navigate directly to a Confluence page.
- Observe that the page does not load successfully and the user cannot continue.
Expected Results
Confluence should recover from the expired session by refreshing it or prompting the user to sign in again. If the requested content permits anonymous access, the content should remain accessible as appropriate.
Actual Results
The page fails to load and the user cannot continue until a new session is established.
Workaround
Any of the following can restore access:
- Sign out and sign in again.
- Clear the site's browser cookies.
- Open Confluence in a private or incognito window.
- Navigate through a link that prompts a fresh login.
- Connecting to the site via a custom app URL configured for the product.
