Problem
When an admin disables specific features (such as Confluence Databases or Real-time Documents) at the Space level via Space Settings > General > Features, the restriction is only applied to the UI navigation (sidebar and "Create" button).
However, the restriction is not honoured by the Confluence editor. Users can still use the slash ( / ) command to insert these restricted content types. Furthermore, once inserted, the user can successfully create and save the content, which then appears in the page tree, effectively bypassing the intended space-level restriction.
Steps to Reproduce
- Go to a Confluence Space and navigate to Space Settings > General > Features.
- Toggle OFF the "Database" and "Real-time Documents" features.
- Navigate to any page in that space and enter Edit mode.
- Type /database or /whiteboard (or "Real-time Document" equivalent).
- Select the option from the slash menu.
- Observe that the element is inserted.
- (Optional) Click to open the inserted element in a new tab and complete the creation process.
Expected Results
If a feature is disabled at the space level, the corresponding slash commands should be:
- Hidden from the slash command menu.
- Blocked from creation if accessed via a direct link or legacy shortcut.
Actual Results
- The slash command remains available in the editor.
- The user can successfully create the "disabled" content type.
- The newly created content appears in the page tree, bypassing the space-level configuration.
Workaround
A workaround will be added here if one becomes available
