Problem
The Carousel macro always renders a title/description container on each slide. Even when both fields are left empty, an empty box remains and overlays or reserves space over the image, reducing the visible area. There is no option to disable or hide this caption container.
Suggested Solution
Add a "Show captions" toggle at the macro level; when off, do not render the caption container.
Auto-hide the caption container when both Title and Description are empty.
Optional: Provide caption position controls (overlay vs. below image) and style options (background/opacity) to prevent covering the image.
Why This Is Important
The overlay obscures critical parts of images (e.g., UI screenshots, diagrams), reducing clarity and accuracy.
Authors cannot present image-centric content cleanly and may avoid the macro, impacting adoption.
Aligns behavior with other media displays where empty captions are omitted, improving consistency and accessibility.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround to fully remove the caption box within the Carousel macro. Partial alternatives:
Use the Gallery macro (e.g., Grid or Masonry) which does not overlay an empty caption.
Insert images directly on the page and rely on the full-screen viewer for unobstructed viewing.
