In Q2 we rolled out a performance optimization where when you edit a page that is very large or has a lot of content, Confluence optimizes the performance of the page by turning off certain features https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/automatic-performance-optimization/.

While we have seen this has significantly improved page interactivity for pages with very large tables, there are still performance issues with large tables.

We have additional performance improvements for tables in development which are expected to yield further performance improvements, and will update here as these are released.

      Issue Summary

When editing very large tables in the Confluence Cloud editor, the performance degrades significantly. The editor becomes unresponsive, making it difficult to input or modify data in a timely manner.

This issue also affects third-party apps, such as the Table Filter, causing the content not to appear when the table is too large.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a page.
      2. Insert or create a table with a large number of rows and columns (e.g., 2000 rows x 10 columns).
      3. Attempt to edit the page.
      4. Observe the editor's responsiveness and performance.

If the table is inside the Table Filter macro, it's possible that the content won't load when viewing the page.

      Expected Results

The Confluence editor should remain responsive and allow smooth editing of table data.

      Actual Results

The editor becomes slow and occasionally unresponsive while editing or navigating through large tables.

      Workaround

Split the table's content into two pages.
