Description
Problem
In a two-column layout on Confluence Cloud, a table containing merged cells and encapsulated within an Excerpt macro expands beyond its column width, causing the table content to be obscured by the right side.
Environment
Confluence Cloud
Steps to Reproduce
- Create or open a Confluence page.
- Divide the page into two columns using the section feature.
- Insert a table with merged cells within any column.
- Apply the Excerpt macro to the table.
- Observe the table's width.
Expected Results
The table, even with merged cells, should conform to the width of the column when placed within the Excerpt macro.
Actual Results
The table automatically expands to full page width, exceeding its designated column width. This results in most of the table content being hidden beneath the right side.
Workaround
In some situations, it's possible to adjust the table width to fit within the column manually. However, this solution must be more consistently effective, and the issue reappears upon re-editing the page.
Notes
This issue is specifically tied to tables with merged cells based on observations. When placed within an Excerpt macro, tables without merged cells don't exhibit this problem.
This issue may have emerged following recent macro nesting enhancements in Confluence Cloud.
