    Description

      Issue Summary

Copied attachments do not adhere to the configured attachment size limit on Confluence Editor. As a result, attachments that exceed the file limit could be successfully copied (uploaded) to new/other Confluence page.

      Steps to Reproduce

As of now, there are two methods to reproduce this issue:

      1. Method 1
        1. Go to Settings > General Configurations
        2. Make sure that the Attachment Maximum Size is set to 100 MB (104857600)
        3. Create Page A and upload an attachment with a file size exceeding 1 MB
        4. Publish Page A
        5. Go to Settings > General Configurations
        6. Set an Attachment Maximum Size of 1 MB (1048576)
        7. Open Page A in Editor
        8. Then, highlight and copy the uploaded attachment in Page A (Control-C or Command-C)
        9. Try to create a new page, Page B
        10. In Page B's Editor, paste the copied attachment (Control-V or Command-V) and publish Page B
      1. Method 2
        1. Go to Settings > General Configurations
        2. Make sure that the Attachment Maximum Size is set to 100 MB (104857600)
        3. Create Page A and upload an attachment with a file size exceeding 1 MB
        4. Publish Page A
        5. Go to Settings > General Configurations
        6. Set an Attachment Maximum Size of 1 MB (1048576)
        7. Then, attempt to copy page A and publish this copied page

      Expected Results

Attachment that exceed the file limit should not be uploaded to the Confluence page. The newly created/copied page shouldn't be published successfully.

      Actual Results

Attachment that exceed the file limit could be uploaded successfully to the Confluence page.

      Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available.

In the interim, we'd strongly suggest that you use the methods outlined in our documentation below to upload attachments to Confluence page.
These methods uphold the attachment size limit, effectively curbing excessive storage usage on Confluence:
