      Issue Summary

When invited to a Confluence Cloud instance, users have a personal space created automatically (either through the onboarding or due to the feature that automatically creates it for the users).

This, sometimes, can clog up the instance and it would be useful to have an option to disable it on a site level instead of disabling the creation of personal space for each group having access to Confluence.

      Workaround

You can disable Personal Space permissions for user groups in Global Permissions. However, users will not be able to create their personal space manually.

[CONFCLOUD-71300] Ability to disable the personal spaces creation automatically

fully agree. personal spaces cause a maintenance headache. what happens when people leave? is the content in their spaces important? can we delete it? due to FODD (Fear of Deleting Data) this stuff usually just languishes for years and even decades (yes true), adding to the mess that exists in almost all Confluence and Jira instances.

After so many years, it's still not fixed (disable by default!) and still no simple way to identify which spaces are just the default content.

I really would like to know, if this was initially a feature request by the marketing team to have "some impressive numbers" like 1.234.567 spaces have been created already for one of the previous summits.

Don't worry guys. There will likely be a Confluence premium automation option to remove all unused personal spaces.

            Ka-ching!

Atlassian: Oh no, cloud storage and compute is expensive, we have to increase license prices.
Also Atlassian: Lets just bloat sites with automatic creation of unwanted content using costly storage and compute.

I can see how a personal page would be useful but we don't need full sites per person.
