We've rolled out a new experience for MediaCards for both Confluence and Jira.

            https://app.launchdarkly.com/confluence/production/features/confluence.frontend.media.cards.new.experience/history?after=1594476000000)

Was rolled out fully on December 21 2020. Docs/Pdf's & Xls files should now be previewable (i.e have their thumbnails) when you upload them now.

This feature is not an optional one but essential one. I don't understand your policy of going backward. It's been more than a year since you broke this feature. I have been patiently waiting for you to bring it back. But it seems we've been ignored for this long. I'm sure many people feel the same way as I do.

The look and feel of the the new editor on the attachments icon is very amateurish.

I agree with the other comments on this issue. The file previews were very handy and we would really like them back.

Downgrade, this is the right word for loosing the preview and the link view.

Seems odd that the new editor downgrades what was a very useful function of showing file previews.

The ability to preview a file directly on the page without having to download it first seems like a clear advantage. The grey icon in the new editor has a number of issues in that it takes up too much space and does not display the full filename.

My users rely on this feature heavily and have made many complaints.

I have a few questions about the roll out/migration of the new editor

Regarding older pages that have PDFs & other docs embedded with thumbnails:

            • These pages currently still have the old editor in place.  Will the old editor remain on such pages once Atlassian's editor migration is complete?
            • More importantly, will the thumbnails for embedded docs on older pages remain after the editor migration is complete?

This functionality of the old editor is very valuable and allows quick visual scan of page content to identify the relevant attachment.  I hope this visualsation will soon be part of the new editor which clearly has a focus on improving the user experience.  At the very least, can the old editor remain available till this can be achieved in the new editor please?
