Hi Jonathan - the issue was closed off by Jira automation if there has been no activity on a bug over the past year, just to make it more visible of what we are/aren't working on, so I didn't check this ticket at all. Sometimes, there has been no activity on a bug because it's fixed and we just haven't closed the ticket off, which luckily, it looks like this is one of those cases! I've updated the resolution to 'Fixed', thank you for the prompt to check.

I wonder if Matthew Hunter actually looked to see what the bug was, and whether it was fixed, before copy-pasting and closing.

Maybe he would have seen there was some progress.

            Atlassian Update - October 12, 2021

            Hi everyone,

Thank you for previously raising this bug and bringing it to our attention.

Within our company roadmap and work capacity, we try to address or review each bug request but admit that not each one will be resolved. To continue the culture of being honest and open, we are closing this bug to focus on our upcoming roadmap for all Confluence users.

As we continue to roll out features we do look at requests made by our users and if you feel like this bug is still impacting your team please let us know.

Thank you again for providing valuable feedback to our team!

This was one of the reasons our team preferred to have documents shared and indexed in Confluence. It meant that an array of assets could be easily parsed and it also meant that as documents got completed and added there was a real sense that a library of content was being generated. Now these ugly, utilitarian links have the opposite effect - they actually generate a more user unfriendly page than simple text links. Please fix.

I'd like to see this bug's priority changed from 3 to 2, in line with Atlassian's own guidelines on severity:

Priority 2: "A feature is unavailable, application performance is significantly degraded, or users job functions are impaired."

In our use of Confluence Cloud, losing the ability to display a PDF thumbnail on a page is making a previously available feature "unavailable", and the issue is impacting the job functions of our users. This applies to multiple Confluence instances I work with at multiple companies.

            Hi guys,

We are some eight months of this pretty major issue: can we have a progress report please?

            Thanks,

            Bill.

This is for me a reason to no longer use confluence and look for alternative solutions.

Major issue here, reported in the Community but it seems that's a waste of time.
This is a bug and I strongly disagree it should be considered "Severity 3 - Minor". Viewing PDF thumbnails is a core requirement of how we've designed our sites.
