We recently released a new file viewer for the Office Word, Office Powerpoint, Office Excel, and PDF macros, and the details are in this blog post: https://confluence.atlassian.com/confcloud/blog/2017/05/new-file-viewer-for-the-office-and-pdf-macros.

A note from Atlassian on the Excel macro

We've obviously received feedback from some of you that the Excel macro doesn't meet your needs or expectations. There are some known issues with it right now that impact the display of spreadsheets.

You may legitimately ask, why did we proceed with the rollout when these known issues exist? We're making infrastructure changes for the overall benefit of Confluence Cloud users, but they mean that we can't keep the old Office and PDF macros working any longer. We need to proceed with this rollout so we can move forward with the infrastructure changes, which have a much wider impact than this macro.

In saying that, we, of course, genuinely care about every user's experience with Confluence, and always want it to be the best. We really regret any negative consequences this release has caused, and realize that any explanation of trade-offs will be of little comfort when you rely on this macro's functionality.

There unfortunately isn't a short-term fix for this issue, but we're investigating a better long-term solution for Excel and other Office files, and we'll update you when we have news to share.

We are not able to download migrated excel file that appear in excel macro. This was very good feature before. We need now to pay for addons to do that.

Atlassian start doing things that will not help us as partner to bring more customers.

I love how Atlassian continues to develop new ways of limiting existing features in order to justify CHURN. Bravo!

The file viewer is horrible, it can't really be used at all. We need to be able to edit the Excel sheet, as it was the case in the Server version.

Excel files render as a portrait-oriented word doc. Tried various file types: .xls, .xlsx, .xlsm

            Macro not really usable.

            Hello,

my excel sheet is shown as most of the other screenshots with only parts of it being visual. Has there been any fix as i see the screenshots are from 2017 ?

            Thanks

We just updated to the cloud version - and I'm disappointed!  For years I have been embedding Excel spreadsheet into Confluence pages, this has worked well for my business - and now I CANNOT access these files, let alone add more.
I need to at minimum be able to export in a spreadsheet format the documents I have now.  How does one accomplish this?

If you get the print set up for the excel/word file as you want it, then the macro renders it as a print preview.  Which is partially useful. Only the first worksheet in an excel is displayed as there is no setting to select worksheets.

            Still poor.
