JIRA macros are failing with a 'Error rendering macro' message

JIRA macros are no longer working in Confluence pages and are displaying error messages like this one:

Error rendering macro 'gadget' : The gadget at https://domain-name.atlassian.net/rest/gadgets/1.0/g/com.atlassian.jira.gadgets:filter-results-gadget/gadgets/filter-results-gadget.xml was not added to this Confluence instance yet.

      Workaround

Please raise a support ticket at support.atlassian.com under OnDemand Support to have your gadgets added back to Confluence.

Appreciate the response Mark, plus the support desk intervention sorted us until the fix was deployed.

We take the quality of our products seriously, and we are very sorry that this happened. In this particular case, the bug was caught by our QA process, but due to a miscommunication the deployment went out without the fix. As soon as we realised the problem, the fix was also deployed. Obviously this is not good enough, but please be assured that we are making the necessary process changes to prevent the same mistake being made in future releases.

There seem to be a lot of bugs not caught in QA that get pushed live with Atlassian updates. I've seen it for years.

Thanks Steve, we appreciate the fast turnaround and that your team is working hard to keep things working.

However, it worries me that this glitch was not catched by any QA process, and that it needed customers to report this.
IMHO the old programmer's excuse "On my machine it works" is not really applicable with SaaS software.

            Hi Everyone

Thanks for taking the time to raise and comment on this issue. We have applied fix for this issue to OnDemand. You should all now be seeing your gadgets appearing once more in Confluence.

The problem was caused by a plugin upgrade in JIRA during the last OnDemand release. We have identified and fix this plugin upgrade.

            Regards

Yes, it seems like Atlassian updates introduce problems more often than not.

Well this "something happened" might be related to Atlassian restarting our instance outside of any maintenance window and without prior notice, at 11am! Not funny.

We are experiencing the same issue when trying to link product requirements to Jira cards, getting unknown macro error. This is having a major impact on our productivity, need a work around or fix ASAP!
