Allow users to discard their own changes with Collaborative Editing

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Cloud. Using Confluence Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Problem statement

With Collaborative Editing enabled, all users are sharing the same draft. However, if a single user wants to leave the editor and discard his own changes, he doesn't have the option to do so unless:

      1. He manually removes his changes.
      2. He clicks on the 'Undo' button in the page until his changes are gone.

At present, he can only either remove everyone's changes or keep everyone's changes along with his own. Also, when you "Save and Close" Undo button will not remember the previous action, thus, Undo button will not disregard the changes.

      Suggestion

Provide an extra button or option ("Discard my changes") whereby the user can discard his own changes.

The omission of this functionality is absurd. It's yet another data point for the argument that Confluence Cloud was a step backwards for the platform.

Had the functionality with the on premise version and lost it after going to the cloud. This seems to be very basic functionality, what seems to be the hold up in fixing it ?

Unbelievable that such an essential feature is not working. Really turns the whole collaborative editing feature ad absurdum! Our workaround for now: No collaborative editing and nobody is allowed to leave an unpublished draft. Makes the whole feature pointless!

how long should we wait functionality to discard own changes?

i just edited the page and due to confluence bug it overwritten whole content with empty content, and disabled the undo button.

how should i revert and get my edited content back?

            +1 .

If I open a page to copy a table (can't copy it well in View mode!!!) and then close the page, I end up with "unpublished changes". This is ridiculous. I need a way to discard this.

Just writing to ensure there is at least a comment in 2023. I cannot fathom how the omission of Discard Changes functionality is appropriate in any universe, multiverse, alternate timeline, alternate dimension, or otherworld.

I still shudder over the thought of how many unintended edits I have published remain out in the wild.

I can't believe this has to be "upvoted" for it to be considered to be worked on. It should never have been removed from the product. We've been on the cloud version for less than a month and I already wish we could go back to on-prem.

I would love to see a discard changes button-my users are confused as to why there might be changes they are not aware of or not published by other users and have asked about it multiple times.

People are reverting each other changes by mistake.

I want to revert to last published changes because formatting got completely broken. Remembers me the old days when I used MS Word. Not a good sign.

3 years open and still no option to delete your unpublished changes!?

It's definitely a glaring functionality omission; it's made worse by the fact that the documentation on drafts, as far as I could find, does talk about discarding a draft as if it's something you can do.  (You can't.)

I removed the text someone else added as I didn't realise I was collaborating at the time. Now I can't discard my changes without opening up another tab containing the current document version and pasting in text from the original. Am I missing something? This appears to be a glaring functionality omission.

From what I have seen, point 2 from the description is not possible once you have clicked "save and close" (badly named, separate issue). This means you are left with point 1, which is almost useless if you made a draft change a while ago and forget what it was. Therefore, a way to automatically discard them is pretty much essential.
