Accesskey attributes are an older approach to helping users navigate through a page, which are not well supported and can cause problems with existing shortcuts. In many cases a user will already have a binding that takes precedence and the accesskey binding will be basically useless.
We have two in Confluence. For the search shortcut ("q"), we already provide an alternate shortcut, so mostly the concern is with the "L" binding to jump to the main content of the page.
The preferred approach is now to also use the HTML5 "main" and "nav" elements to satisfy the kind of content-based grouping that the "L" binding is used for.
This is required to meet Level AA compatibility with the WCAG 2.0 standard.
