            [CONFCLOUD-14810] Customisable Tables

Sherif - do you have a ticket for frozen columns? It would be really cool to be able to choose between a frozen header row, frozen header column, or both! We love the frozen header row, but many users are now requesting additional frozen panes. I am not sure of what to watch for that functionality and hope that Atlassian is working on it. Thank you!

            Hi Guys,
I'm closing this issue because it doesn't make sense to vote / watch this issue. This feature request is really lots of little feature requests put together, and we now have a component in JIRA to track table editing.

So can I encourage you to go look at the linked open issues on this ticket and watch / vote on the tickets that you want in terms of table customisations.

I whole-heartedly would like to have an option to have borderless tables (border=0) in latest Confluence 4 editor. See CONF-26195. Maybe that issue can be part of this umbrella?

I'm using Confluence 4.3 and there isn't any way to change alignment for the whole column at once. It would be really useful as currently users have to change alignment in every cell individually.

Thanks for the suggestion Bill. You are right that section/column macros are required at the current time - I exploit these heavily. Prior to 4.x I also used the table macros (inside of columns) to subdivide landing pages even further. While this is still possible in 4.x - it just feels wrong. Another user editing the page really has no idea what is going on - I might as well be using pure HTML.

Steps to unify and make the functionality of Page Layout replace section/column and to enhance the table functionality to have fine grain control would be extremely beneficial.

Question: Is there a page tracking functionality to make Confluence more friendly at building landing pages?

Thanks dgamble, we do plan to eventually extend page layouts to support more advanced types of landing pages. In the mean time I'd recommend using section/column for these more advanced landing pages instead of a table-based layout.

Many times tables are used to try to create custom layouts. This is really running headlong into the "Page Layout" feature. Enhancement of the Page Layout functionality should be considered at the same time greater table control is added. The appropriate set of additional functionality would allow custom landing pages to be easily created.
            (See CONF-25519 and CONF-26435).

Creating a landing page without this functionality is awkward. In Confluence 3.x successfully did this regularly.

I am new to Confluence and think that the lack of control of the formating of tables is a real weakness - especially the column width - as it really makes formatting the a page difficult

Let's add to the "one-full-sweep" improvements suggested! While testing v4.0.3, our users have asked for new column-editing commands in the toolbar, having the same behavior as existing row-editing commands and shortcuts:

            • "Cut table column"
            • "Copy table column"
            • "Paste table column"

Also, it would be useful if column headers could remain visible while we scroll the page while browsing and editing a table.
