      Update

The fix has been rolled out to all instances. If you had switched back to the Default Theme you can safely return to the Documentation theme. If you're still affected by this problem please contact Atlassian Support

      Summary

After the maintenance of 20 July 2015 the Documentation theme of Confluence is broken and shows the menu/side bar of a space at the top.

      Environment

      Confluence Cloud Only.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Switch Confluence to the Documentation theme

      Expected Results

The Page tree is shown on the left hand side

      Actual Results

The page tree is shown up top instead.

      Workaround

Switch to the Default Confluence Theme Globally. Certain spaces may need to be configured to use the global theme afterward.

            Hi bob.swift@charter.net,

Regarding your question: yes, this is a temporary fix to restore functionality until the next release. The next release will restore the original behavior.

You are right, because the sidebar patch Javascript is now executed at the very end of the page load, there is a flash of un-styled content. This will go away with the next deployment. I would recommend keeping the documented CSS override until the next deployment. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Sorry Bob, I missed your comment earlier, I can replicate the behaviour your seeing. I've reached out to the developer of the fix to find out if it's temporary.

Paul, if you are not using any of the documentation theme customization, then yes, that is a good idea. If you are using documentation theme customization, wait until they provide the same customization support in the default theme before switching so that the customization can be preserved.

In doing some catch up on the what's new information, I see I should probably switch to the 'global theme' for all of my spaces since the 'doc theme' is going away.

Apologies I didn't know that, but thanks very much, Ivan. Things look just fine to me then.

Hi Paul, on the Confluence Default Theme the Space Admin link is at the bottom left as part of the Cog menu. Click the Cog icon and you will be shown a little menu where you can select Space Admin.

While the nav is back on the left panel, my instance seems to have acquired another problem. I am a jira admin and had admin rights on all confluence spaces. For all spaces that use the "Global Look and Feel" theme, I no longer have access into the administration pages for those spaces (the Browse button at the top is gone). For those spaces that use the "Documentation Theme", I do have access to the admin pages (by way of the Browse button at the top). To prove this, I switched a space's theme to "Global Look and Feel" and hit confirm; the top nav's Browse button is gone and I have no means to administer that space. I was administering sites yesterday without a problem. Spoke to my colleague also a jira admin and he has the same issues.

Our instance is also working correctly now. Thank you!
