Request for inclusion of mariadb for confluence supported platform.

            [CONFSERVER-29060] Support for MariaDB

10 years later and confluence server fading away... What's going to happen to this feature request?

Might I add an important one, as the LGPL license of mariadb connector j would definitely allow redistribution of the binary with Jira and docker images.

Making things a lot more easier for your users, us, and for your QA testers, you.

            @ Billy good analysis.
We are a small company scratching on the pricey 10 user barrier, we cannot possible trust a cloud with our data, and we were thinking about swallowing that 2.7k / 3,5k pills.
They totally killed that for Jira (which is easier to replace) and we really hope for a new player to step in the Confluence market.
We don't need a 10 $ per year bargain, but multiple k $ per year for say 12 users? Not if we can avoid it.

Well it was not clearly stated, but they are deep sixing the server version, but not Data Center. So if you don't want/like/can't use the Cloud you "can" move to Data Center, starting at 500 users. Oh, and they are upping the price. So if you are a small shop who makes uses of things like user macros and custom CSS (or just need to support customers who are configured that way), you are hosed, and need to plan on shelling out $27k per year to get started. BUT they are giving us three years to find another alternative.

Clearly, Atlassian has decided they are an Enterprise-only solution, and want to be more like Oracle.

With the cloud only announcement now, I guess we now know why they never decided to act upon this very simple request.

@ Matthew Furry unfortunately I agree, and it kinde shocked me.
They don't understand how difficult a cloud solution is trust wise.

But maybe there's a silver lining, someone else finally might make a push for us customers and come forward with a decent alternative that supports on-premise installation and importing confluence data. Most of us probably only use 10% of the features, apart from the usable WYSIWYG table editor their ain't to much rocket science in Confluence as far as we use it, even less so in Jira.

Received notice this week that Atlassian is abandoning those of us using on-premise server environments, so they will probably never look at this
