The problem
I am seeing a problem when I use italics in a bulleted list. See the following video for a demonstration: http://screencast.com/t/59myEBhsPjvA. In words: with italics enabled at the end of a line in a bulleted list, when you press return the italics remain on, that is fine and typical, however, when you try to turn italics off at the beginning of the new line, the bulleted list and the italics get messed up.
Steps to reproduce
- Create a page with a bulleted list
- Type the last word on a line in italics, specified either by Ctrl-I or by pressing the Italic button
- Press enter to create a new bullet point
- What you should see - the cursor on the line next to the bullet point
- What you DO see - the bullet point on a line and the cursor on a non-bulleted but still indented line below.
Workarounds
- I was able to work around the issue by typing on the line below where the cursor ends up, then placing the cursor at the front of the text and pressing backspace, to move it back up to the bullet point. A little annoying, but at least it gets the list back together for now.
- Another option I tried which did NOT show the behaviour was to use old wiki markup syntax to specify the italics. I typed an underscore '_' at the start of the italics section, then another at the end, and the italics were applied only to the text within the section, so when I pressed enter there were no italics on the next line and the problem did not occur.
