Allow quick insertion of macros, links and embedded content using autoformat

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

The will enable full support of wiki link, macro and embedded syntax in autoformat to enable fast insertion.

For example, after typing {code:language=xml, if the user then types the closing curly brace "}", Confluence will insert a code macro immediately.

I agree with Jens. What we are looking for is the parameters to appear in the frame of the macro. These could then be edited as regular text and interpreted on exiting the frame of the macro. Doing this would remove a huge visibility issues also. Search and replace then could work on the complete page.

I would link it to: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-23581

I disagree with the proposed solution here, not because it wouldn't work, but because it would only solve what I consider to be a minor annoyance in comparison to when you begin to edit the macros over time.

I also can't see how this would work if the user suddenly began to "navigate" the "macro-search-popup"... would he be able to type the first 2 letters of a macro, then selecting the 3rd item and then continue with a ":"?... After all the quick search is usefull.

Instead, implementing the header of the macro as a "input field" the user could complete his macro selection, the cursor would jump into that field and he could put in attributes or click enter/arrow down in order to enter the macro body.

Again, might not be the best solution, but at least it's better than this in my opinion, and it also solves the "edit" part as the field would remain editable.
