    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server and Data Center. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Currently, embedding a file (image, video etc) in a Confluence page means it is visible in the page and space's attachments and can be downloaded by anyone with relevant view permissions. It would be helpful if admins could set permissions on the downloading of attachments.

If an attachment is listed under attachments but not embedded to the page, users with view permission shouldn't be able to download the attachment.

            Hi All,

We understand this issue has been closed. But We really need this feature, it would be great if it can re-opened and implemented in the future release.

I really need this feature. There are many cases in which users only have rights in viewing documents and videos without downloading.  Please reopen it.

@Matt Ryall: Technically, it should be possible. There are many web-pages which allow users to view-only the documents, videos without downloading.

This feature request isn't really possible to implement (viewing an image on a website is the same as downloading it), and we don't have it on our roadmap for development any time soon so I'm closing it as "Won't Fix".

This feature would be very nice if the permission can be managed as it is currently done for page restrictions.
I mean that attachments can be restricted to a group or an individual user on these operations:

            • View / Download / Edit / Remove.

Restrictions should be applied at space level (better would be a page level).
            Hope that this is feasible.
            Thanks,

There is an FAQ page for a customisation to work around the issue, but it would be much better if this was an actual feature.
