Summary
Currently sandboxes will start from the tier according to the licensing on the production instance.
For example: If you have Jira Software Premium and Jira Service Management Free, you will be able to have the same set up on a sandbox.
But, you can also end-up upgrading the tier of the Free product:
- Still on the previous example, If you end up adding more agents to JSM and goes beyond the 3 agents limit for the Free tier your sandbox will have JSM upgraded to Standard automatically, which will then require payment
- If that happens, there is no easy way to revert back
- You cannot manage the billing of sandbox instances
- The license will not revert back even if you reduce the number of agents back to 3
At this time the only way to revert that scenario would be to delete the sandbox and start a new one from scratch.
Suggestion
Provide a way to revert that scenario:
- Either provide the ability to manage the sandbox billing
- Or have the sandbox revert the licenses according to the license usage count
