      Hi everyone,

      Original request description

It would be useful to have a freeform text area that you could enter text into - like the Unix / IRC Message Of The Day (MOTD).

This would appear in the(user home page, or in the header) show that new users could get a description of the installation, and it could be updated (infrequently) with new information for users such as upgrades, or upcoming maintenance downtime.

I would like to further refine this request to add a PRIORITY or (urgency) to the Message. So that a Message could be in the in the simplist iteration an INFORMATION (where the user can dismiss it if they choose to) or a WARNING where as they CANNOT dismiss it, and that it is HIGHLIGHTED (color?) to assure that user understands the importanncy or urgency of the information.

Come on Atlassian, 6 years for such a basic feature...

Can you please provide an ETA? How far is your 'mid-term roadmap'? Do we have any chance to see this feature in 2019?

We have 10000 Jira users, thousands of Bamboo/confluence/bitubcket users too.

We'd love to have banner/announcement function included in all Atlassian products (Bitbucket and Bamboo especially) just like in Jira and Confluence.

Pushing on this one again. Six-year-old request for something your other products already have, so how to do it is already in your code base multiple times.

Spending a lot of money on a plugin when we're paying you thousands for a yearly support contract seems wrong, especially given the prior art.

It'd sure be a shame to cannibalize that overpriced plugin's sales by implementing this basic feature, huh? What happened to "don't @#$* the customer"?

We are spending so much money on this product, and a paid plug-in is not the answer to: we need a one-line banner at the top of Bitbucket, just like other Atlassian products that already have one.

Our security team is requiring that we add a banner statement/message that will notify users what type of data may be stored in Bitbucket.  Would be great if Atlassian would make this enhancement request a higher priority.

This is a basic need for any system. JIRA have it, Confluence have it, why not Bitbucket? It's since 2012 for god sake. The announcer add-on is ugly where i cant remove the icon on the left for a plain banner

I find it very strange that Atlassian offers Announcement in JIRA and Custom HTML for Confluence in their native versions, but not the equivalent for Stash/Bitbucket Server. I mean buying a add-on for hundreds of dollars. In our operation we would only need this a handful times yearly.

Our current workaround is to add the announcements in JIRA and Confluence, since the users hang there all the time. However we have a lot more users of JIRA/Confluence as compared to Stash/Bitbucket Server, so this is not ideal.

There is some documentation here about how to customise the UI with ScriptRunner for Stash.

There are examples for adding web panels pretty much anywhere in Stash, including the banner, using custom conditions to decide who to display it to, and scheduled modification of banners.

In my case the top of the page would be sufficient. I'll follow up with you on the side.

            Hi,
I'm one of the folks behind Announcer for Stash. For the folks that want to have the banner static on the pages - what type of messaging are you looking to use it for?

Andrew Ukasick - We're working on the next release of Announcer for Stash which will fix #1. Thank you for explaining what you're after. Is this information you need at the top of the page or should be expose more locations for you to place these? (Top of page is always kinda disruptive to the users). I would love to discuss this more with you. If you can email me at daniel at wittified.com it would be great! (And for anyone else that wants to share their feedback or requirements - please email me...)

We have a 5000 user license for Announcer but the problem is that we don't have any way to create a banner that just stays there. For example, we want to put up a welcome banner that also contains jira issue collectors so that our stash users can submit feedback to us, support tickets, bugs, etc right in stash. Because announcer supports html I can actually do that but the problem is that the big old "Acknowledge" button is there and if they click it the banner is gone forever.

            1) We need an option to publish a banner that doesn't have the little yellow alert icon on the left
            2) We need an option to publish a banner that doesn't have a button to dismiss it (it's permanent)
            3) We'd like an option to publish a banner that can be dismissed by the user but which will come back the next time they visit the site.

Is it possible to have it set so that a banner appears and always comes up every time they are logged in. What we were finding out is that when they have acknowledge it that it does not appear again.

We have Announcer and it's ok for letting people know something once and tracking that they've acknowledged it, but it would be good to also have messages that always appear in banners or warn of impending downtime as Jeremy suggests. This may well more serve as reminders rather than one off announcements.

Able to set an announcement banner for JIRA, able to set Custom HTML for Confluence, but neither option for Stash? Similar to Jeremy we would like a way to notify users of an upcoming scheduled maintenance. Confused why each of these products differ so much in their basic administrative functionality.

I was going to enter a feature request to allow the Stash UI to display a visual warning to the user when downtime is expected for maintenance or a software upgrade. I believe this idea is similar to a message of the day, but has more urgency and should grab the user's attention. Let me know if I should create a separate request.

I would like this message to support markup. That way I could add a wiki link to our local documentation. Thanks!
