Email templates should be made customisable.

            [BAM-846] Customisable emails.

            Hi guys,

Just dropping a quick note to let you know that Bamboo 2.2 has been released today, which includes this particular feature. With Bamboo 2.2, you can now specify your own custom freemarker templates which define how and what your email looks like. We have even included a much nicer default set of HTML mails to get you started.

For more details on the release, please check out our release notes at: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/BAMBOO/Bamboo+2.2+Release+Notes.

            Regards,
            Edwin (Atlassian Bamboo)

We are switching from CruiseControl at the moment and are totally missing this feature. I attached a screenshot to this issue (I am not sure if it worked, seems only Admins can see them?!). Especially I miss:

            • Compiler warnings (like deprecated) are totally ignored
            • Findbugs warnings
            • Checkstyle warnings

Nobody will take the time to check the log file after each build!

This would be extremely beneficial ... I think Bamboo is somewhat crippled without this. I get a complaint per week about how the emails from CruiseControl were better as they could link directly to the repository view. With the default integration to Fisheye, why can't the HTML of the change items tab be sent out ?

this is really needed. If you're working on this, could you please add this as well: http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/BAM-2753

It seems it would be relatively trivial to at least expose this one template to the users in a configuration setting, and to allow us to choose HTML or text email. Will this feature make it into Bamboo 2.0?

Yep, need customizable templates for IM and Email, just expose the Velocity to us (as per QuickBuild)

I 2nd BrettA's comments about Cruisecontrol. I am using that and love the customization capability in the emails that go out to the devs.

I also miss the old HTML email from cruisecontrol quite badly. Having the blamelist of changes go out with failed build emails as well as the changelist that has finally passed for successful builds matters.

Please also consider that subsequent failing builds really need to include all outstanding changes in their email and summary pages - while the build is broken, the backlog of "not yet successful" changes is important since any one or more of them could be reasons for the breakage.

Take a good look at cruisecontrol's approach here, please.
